Simon Katich to coach Manchester Originals again in 2025

Australian will take charge of the side for a fifth year as Stephen Parry departs from women's side

Manchester Originals men's Head Coach Simon Katich has signed a further one-year contract and will lead the side in next year’s competition.

The 49-year-old - who has previously led Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL and Trinbago Knight Riders in the CPL - has been the men’s Head Coach at Manchester Originals since the inception of The Hundred in 2021. In both 2022 and 2023 he took the Originals to the final of the competition at Lord’s, whilst in 2024 the team endured a tough campaign and finished seventh.

Manchester Originals Head Coach Simon Katich said:

"I have absolutely loved my time leading the Manchester Originals over the last three years and I’m already looking forward to next year. It’s a competition I thoroughly enjoy, and we are determined to win it for Manchester.

"We were all disappointed with how this season went, particularly after coming as close as we did in 2022 and 2023. I feel we have unfinished business given the events of the last three editions of The Hundred and all of us at the Originals will ensure that we get back on track next year. Planning is already well underway as we work towards squad retentions and the draft early next year.

"I am proud of what we’ve built over the last three years at Manchester Originals, and we’re absolutely determined to get our hands on the trophy for the first time next summer."

Stephen Parry, Manchester Originals women's Head Coach, will leave after two years in charge. The Originals finished sixth after three wins out of eight matches.

Manchester Originals chair James Sheridan said:

"Stephen leaves us with our thanks and best wishes. He joined us with our women’s team under-strength and still finding its feet at this level of cricket. In his two years with us Stephen brought his Mancunian passion to the group and improved the squad immensely with the addition of outstanding players such as Beth Mooney, the world’s number 1 T20 batter, Laura Wolvaardt, South Africa’s captain, and Scotland all-rounder Kathryn Bryce, alongside England bowlers Lauren Filer and Mahika Gaur. We are in a much better place following two years with Stephen at the helm."

Mark Chilton, Director of Cricket Performance at Emirates Old Trafford, added:

"Our aim now is to recruit a world-leading women’s short format Head Coach, and we are very excited where this group of players can take Manchester Originals next year and beyond."
