Chris Silverwood and James Foster become Assistant Coaches in The Hundred

Two English coaches are joining The Hundred in the shape of Chris Silverwood and James Foster.

Silverwood joins The Hundred’s reigning men’s team champions Oval Invincibles as Assistant Coach following a two-year spell with the Sri Lanka men’s team, who won the 2022 Asia Cup and finished runner-up last year.

Having joined the England Men’s team set-up as Fast Bowling Coach in 2018, after leading Essex to the County Championship title in the previous year, he was subsequently appointed Head Coach in 2019, where he led the team across all three formats.

Within the Oval Invincibles men’s team ranks, Silverwood joins Head Coach Tom Moody, and fellow Assistant Coaches Matt Walker and Jim Troughton. Oval Invincibles Women are led by Head Coach Jon Batty, with Laura Marsh, Johann Myburgh and West Indies legend Courtney Walsh the Assistant Coaches.

Foster joins London Spirit as Assistant Coach, bringing his experience and expertise to Trevor Bayliss’s coaching set-up.

The former England wicket-keeper has coached in franchise cricket all over the world, as well as working with England and New Zealand internationally. He replaces Paul Collingwood, who will be with England Men’s Test team throughout much of the Hundred.

London Spirit have also brought in two Assistant Coaches for the women’s team – Yorkshire assistant coach Ali Maiden, formerly World Cup-winning Assistant Coach with England Women, and Sunrisers’ Marc Broom.
