Five things we love about The Hundred
FEATUREHere are the things we love most about The Hundred.
1. Heavy hitting!
Shut your eyes, and you can still hear the crack of ball on bat as it goes flying.
If there is one thing to be guaranteed at The Hundred, it’s balls flying over the boundary ropes. Whether it's Liam Livingstone smashing sixes (27 of them in total!), Jemimah Rodrigues flicking and cutting her way to the highest individual score (a massive 92 not out!), or the huge hitting of Sammy-Jo Johnson or Glenn Phillips, The Hundred is the place to be for the biggest strikes.
Keep your eye out in the crowd, one could be coming your way!
2. The sound and sight of ball hitting stumps
There is nothing in cricket quite like it (unless you're the unlucky batter of course!). The crack of ball crashing into stumps, with bails sent flying and flashing. With quality bowlers around, you know it won’t be long before it happens.
It might be Tash Farrant swinging one in past the bat, or Imran Tahir tying knots and spinning one into the stumps (who can forget his hat-trick to beat Welsh Fire?!). Whoever the bowler, you just love to see those bails flying!
3. Live music
The Hundred wouldn’t be, well, The Hundred, without the incredible music and artists at each ground to soundtrack your summer. Lady Leshurr, Becky Hill, Jake Bugg and, of course, Jax Jones (admit it, who can think of The Hundred without hearing ‘Feels’?!) were just four of the talents heard at last year’s competition.
The sounds, rhythms and atmosphere around the grounds at each match makes each experience unique, and fun! Who will you be listening out for in 2022?
4. Bringing fans of all ages together
Whether it's your very first time walking through the gates at Lord’s, or your 100th visit to The Ageas Bowl, nothing compares to the excitement of attending a cricket match. With back-to-back women’s and men’s matches with each ticket, with The Hundred you get double the experience!
Will you be bringing someone to their first cricket match this summer?
5. Players from across the world all in one place
Who was your favourite player from The Hundred 2021? Was it Oval Invincibles’ captain supreme Dane van Niekerk? Or perhaps Birmingham Phoenix’s brilliant opener, Will Smeed? Perhaps it was the elegant batting of Alice Capsey, or the pace and power of Trent Rockets’ Marchant de Lange?
The Hundred mixes some of the best players from around the world with those starting out in their careers, waiting to make a name for themselves on the biggest stage. There are heroes to be made!
