The Hundred’s overseas stars
FEATURESome of the world’s biggest cricket icons have made their mark on The Hundred, getting involved in all the chaos of the 100-ball action.
Each squad in The Hundred was allowed to pick a maximum of three overseas players, putting more emphasis on some of cricket’s superstars to step up when needed most. Here are a few that have already left their mark on the competition.
Jemimah Rodrigues
At just 20 years old, Indian batter Rodrigues has thrived under pressure for the Northern Superchargers. She is the current top run scorer in either competition with 223 runs in just four innings played so far.
Quinton de Kock
The form of Southern Brave has improved since the introduction of South African de Kock. The keeper-batter has shown impressive form both behind the stumps and with the bat in hand and may be key for Brave if they reach the Eliminators.
Dane van Niekerk
An experienced all-rounder and Oval Invincibles captain, van Niekerk has been important to the Invincibles. She has over 180 international appearances for South Africa and in The Hundred has already scored 187 runs and six wickets to her name. She has helped the Invincibles to victories already, putting them third with two matches remaining.
Rashid Khan
The 22-year-old spin bowler has made an impact for the Trent Rockets, taking the second most wickets in the Men’s Competition with nine to his name. He has already got 130 appearances in international cricket for Afghanistan and has shown there is plenty more to come from the youngster.
Sammy-Jo Johnson
The Australian bowler has shown her worth to the Trent Rockets already in the competition, leading the wicket-taking charts in the whole of The Hundred with 12 wickets taken so far. The Rockets find themselves level on points with third and could count on the bowling of Johnson going into the last two.
