Who will take the first hat-trick?
NEWSTom Curran missed out on taking the first hat-trick in The Hundred on Monday. Nine others tried before him. Who will be the first to take three wickets in three consecutive balls?
Kate Cross • Originals v Invincibles
The Manchester Originals captain hit the first six of The Hundred. She followed that up by being on the first hat-trick of The Hundred, getting Alice Capsey and Grace Gibbs out. She couldn't complete the trio though as her England teammate Fran Wilson hit her for four.
Tash Farrant • Oval Invincibles v London Spirit
Next up it was the turn of Tash Farrant. Chloe Tryon and Freya Daives were both out to Farrant, but Dani Gibson got through.
Marchant De Lange • Trent Rockets v Northern Superchargers
Marchant de Lange was the first bowler to take five wickets in an innings, in his first match against Southern Brave. It was quite a performance by the South African. In his second appearance, he almost achieved another remarkable feat. David Willey and Brydon Carse fell, but Adil Rashid survived.
Adil Rashid • Northern Superchargers v Trent Rockets
Same match, another chance of a hat-trick. This time it was the man who survived de Lange's attempt, Adil Rashid. The two batters he dismissed were high class too, the world's best-ranked short-form batter Dawid Malan and England captain Joe Root. Rashid couldn't get Samit Patel out to finish it off though.
Lauren Bell • Southern Brave v Welsh Fire
Lauren Bell's attempt was against some brilliant batters too. Hayley Matthews may only be 23 but she is one of the world's best. And Sarah Taylor spent more than a decade at international level with England. Bell got both of them out.
Samit Patel • Trent Rockets v London Spirit
Samit Patel has been around in domestic cricket for a long time, but has never taken a hat-trick. He almost had one at Lord's, dismissing Eoin Morgan and Chris Wood, before missing out on the finale.
Adil Rashid • Northern Superchargers v Oval Invincibles
Twice, Adil? Twice? Fine. The spin maestro tried it again in his next match, this time getting Laurie Evans and Jordan Clark in front of his home crowd at Headingley. Yet again though he was denied, this time by Tom Curran.
Amanda-Jade Wellington • Southern Brave v London Spirit
This would have been one of the stranger hat-tricks. Wellington had Heather Knight caught and then Deepti Sharma out stumped. The stumping came from a wide, which means Sharma legally faced no deliveries. And had Wellington got Chloe Tryon out, she'd have effectively had three wickets in two balls.
George Garton • Southern Brave v London Spirit
George Garton is very fast and very highly rated. He nearly added a hat-trick to his CV against London Spirit. He got Adam Rossington and Joe Denly out, but Eoin Morgan wasn't to be part of it.
Tom Curran • Oval Invincibles v Welsh Fire
Tom Curran has taken a hat-trick at The Kia Oval before. So the Oval Invincibles faithful would have been expecting another incredible moment when Curran got Leus du Plooy and Jimmy Neesham out. Matthew Critchley kept out the hat-trick ball, and still we wait for the first. Who will get it?
