The Hundred in July
NEWSIt's been an incredible start to The Hundred and with August about to get started, here's a look back on the best moments from July.
July 21
It all started with a bang. The first ever match of The Hundred saw the Oval Invincibles take on Manchester Originals and you were there in your numbers to witness it. Nearly 8,000 fans were inside the Kia Oval for the first match. What a sight.

And there were some brilliant performances on display as well. Dane van Niekerk, captain for the Invincibles, solidified her name into The Hundred history with a fantastic 50. Take a look at how she made it to the first ever half-century in the competition.

The following day and it was the turn of the men! There were fireworks once again at the Kia Oval. Quite literally. Have a look at what was put on display below.

It wasn't just colours that were on display during the first men's game of The Hundred. We were treated to a special look at just how much Sam Curran concentrates when coming in to bowl. Sorry, Sam!

On the first Friday of the competition, we witnessed the first double header day at The Hundred. This saw both the women's and men's teams in action back-to-back! It was Birmingham Phoenix vs London Spirit for an action packed evening of entertainment. It was also the perfect opportunity to show off another unique aspect of The Hundred - the batter walk-out. Have a look at Shafali Verma entering the field.

Tickets for double header days ensure entry to both the women's and men's games, so for those who had stayed for the full day of play, they were in store for some massive hitting. It doesn't get much bigger than a 102 metre six delivered by Liam Livingstone. Wow!

If you thought there was lots of action on double header day, then you were in for a treat. A quadruple header day sees four matches get under way for a full day of cricket action. There were more fireworks on and off the pitch and Marchant de Lange provided another first in The Hundred. He took the first ever 5-for in the competition with a brilliant spell. Take a look at his final wicket below.

The beauty of the quadruple header means that excellent skills can be on show in different places at the same time. 80 miles from de Lange, Jemimah Rodrigues was on her way to what is still the highest score in the competition. 92 not out. Well batted, Jemimah.

There were another four games the following day. Originals, Phoenix, Spirit and Invincibles. When Georgia Elwiss was in the field, she was perfectly poised to show off the stage, featured at every venue throughout The Hundred. DJs and music acts are performing throughout matches.

But the headline act went to a player. Matt Parkinson, who has recently been handed an England call up, displayed what he is capable of. Take a look at this delivery to dismiss Chris Cooke. Pure excellence.

Alex Hales is known for his big hitting and made sure to stick around to provide the best finish possible to the day. He was scoring below his usual rate, but when he was needed, he was sure to impress. What a way to win a game.

It was a day for the batters in Wales as Welsh Fire took on Southern Brave. Smriti Mandhana got the day started with a brilliant 61 not out from 39 balls. That included five 4s and three 6s. Here's one of her maximum's for you to watch!

As the women left the pitch, it was Jonny Bairstow and his team who took over. The Englishman knew he was about to play his final Hundred innings for the year as he went off on England duty and he wanted to leave a mark. And that's exactly what he did!

Well, it wouldn't be cricket without the weather. That's all we'll say on that one...

As we came towards the end of the month, London Spirit and Trent Rockets were in a catching mood at Lord's. Lucy Higham hadn't had a bowl or a bat before this day, but when she was called on, she knew what to do. Great ball, Lucy!

It's clear that Matt Carter had been watching the women's game earlier on the day because he had taken some serious inspiration. What an absolutely brilliant grab at slip.

The penultimate day of the month brought more of you to the cricket as Southern Brave played their first home match. It was brilliant to see more of you down on the South coast!

What a way to end the month! Another quadruple header day. 16-year-old Alice Capsey made a fifty earlier on in July, but her bowling performance on the final day of the month was spectacular. 20 balls, 2 wickets and just 9 runs. Excellence from the teenager. A definite future star!
Alice Capsey 2 wickets in 3 balls
How else could we end the month, but with you? Your support has been incredible so far in The Hundred and we can't wait to have you back throughout August!
