Five things to watch out for in the opening match
NEWSAs we move closer to the first ball of The Hundred, here’s what you should keep an eye out for
Oval Invincibles and Manchester Originals start the pulsating new 100-ball competition and there is a lot to be looking forward to.
While there are 100 balls an innings, with every one counting, we’ve condensed down five things you should look out for.
Becky Hill’s performance
Adding to what will be an unmissable match, we’ve got an unmissable performance from singer-songwriter Becky Hill to add to an incredible atmosphere at the Kia Oval.
Becky has written and performed on 12 singles that have charted in the top 40 of the Official UK Singles Chart and will be sure to rock the stage when she takes to it this evening.
International cricket stars
Both Originals and Invincibles have some of international cricket’s best players from across the globe.
From England stars such as Kate Cross, Sophie Ecclestone and Fran Wilson to the South African big hitters Dane van Niekerk and Marizanne Kapp.
As some of the best go head-to-head, expect some fireworks.
The first six
There’s no better feeling than smashing a ball for six as a batter and there’s not many worse feelings than being smashed for six as a bowler.
Keep an eye out for the first big six in the tournament as each team looks to make each ball count.
The first wicket
Who will be the first team to celebrate taking a wicket? Which batter will be forced to walk off first? Who will take the first ever wicket?
All of this is still to be decided but it will be one for the history books when the first 100-ball wicket falls.
Our first Match Hero
At the end of each match there is a Match Hero, a player who stood out or made a match-winning play.
You can vote for your Match Hero in the polls section of the app at the end to have your say on who it should be.
